Candy corn Polish question - 11/22/15 07:57 AM

I am wondering what genes are involved in the candy corn color pattern . Is it golden laced plus barring ? If so does it affect the slate leg color ?

Candy Corn ist Crele
If You plan to combine Crele & gold laced or Tollbunt, I see no huge problem to gain slate legs.
In Belgium they have a Cuckoo penciled breed, which has slate legs.

Obviously it is possible to select for slate legs despite Barring.

If they have the B barring gene, they will mostly have lighter legs (the same as Cuckoo Polish - paler legs).

I just want to show how wonderful the Zwalmvallei Colour can look like

The following pictures show no pure Zwalmvallei Chicken, but these birds (especially the hen in the front) resembles the perfect Zwalmvallei pattern - fantastic. So I want to share it.

I'm not sure what the pattern is- is it barred and mottled together on a gold (maybe crele?) base?

P.S. - Redcap I'd like to have the breed of chicken that lays a mountain of eggs like yours does........... off topic I know but the colours of the Zwalmvallei chickens and your egg laying hen picture match. grin

The Candy Corns don't seem to be well developed in phenotype (as yet), but appear a poor gold laced with B barring.

Cambar, Queen Silvia (traditional version) & Zwalm Valley breeds are all autosomal barred (transverse barring ER Db Pg) with B sex-linked barring. They are autosexing breeds.

That is indeed appealing!

Certainly is appealing. So various combinations of lacing and autosomal barring and then sex linked barring with autosomal barring. Fascinating!
