I have a pullet, 10 months old. She is straining to poop. Her wings spread out and very little poop comes out. It seems to be very dry. She is otherwise active and seems to be eating OK. Her abdomen area below her vent is swollen, featherless and red.
What can I do to help her relieve herself easier? I appreciate any advice.

Had hen with similar problems. I too thought she was eating okay, but soon realized that wasn't the case. She was nothing but breastbone and swollen abdomen.
Do a search...there are many posts from folks experiencing similar cases. Seems to be a trend these days.
Mine eventually passed. If I could go back, I would have eased her discomfort sooner.
