I bought 5 Blue Copper Marans from a local breeder, and this pullet is very different. What color is she?

Looks like Blue Birchen. Not perfect by any means. My guess would be Er/Er, S/-, Bl/bl.

So she definitely needs to be moved out of my Blue Copper Marans pen into the layer flock, yes? I haven't learned genetics yet. Would you mind explaining the genetic code you gave me?

Okay, she is badly bred splash blue birchen. I looked all the gene codes up and wrote them down. Silver inhibits red pigment. Two copies of the blue gene create splash. ( I already knew that part. lol) Is she the offspring created by breeding a blue birchen (with 1 copy of the blue gene) to a Blue Copper? (The other copy of the blue gene, with red/copper, obviously.)?? I suspect a Blue Birchen was bred to a Blue Copper. I bought Blue Coppers from an obviously careless breeder who thinks he can breed a decent blue birchen by breeding to a Blue Copper. Am I right? The Blue Copper Marans cockerel looks good, but he is so young that I cant tell for sure. I am considering selling my cockerel and putting myself on Bev Davis's waiting list for eggs. Thanks. Regardless, I like her, she is sweetheart. I will move her to my layer pen. She does not belong in my Blue Copper breeding pen. I will no longer do business with this breeder.

One more question just for learning sake. If I breed her to a standard Black/silver Birchen Marans cockerel, could I get rid of the red and create a decent quality Blue Birchen? Are the pullet's type/ other features worthy?

I would refer this to the genetic sections for advice ,in my limited knowledge Silver will cover better than anything with perhaps the exception of recessive white
