It would be a nice upgrade from our current board. I have sent a request to see if we can directly import our current data base to the new software.

Redcap, can you point us at any forum based board (the one you recommend) that is in use so I can get an idea of what the "public face" of the board looks like?

If that wouldn't be possible, I rather accept an upgrade within UBB.threads

Here is the reply I received from WaltLab.

Hello Bill,

Thank you for your inquiry and interest in our products. A direct data
import from UBB.threads is unfortunately not possible. The Forum must be
converted into a phpBB at first. Only then the data can be transferred
in Burning Board.

A converter from UBB.threads to phpBB 3.0 can be found here:
https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=2139186

We would be happy take on this work for you. In order to provide you an
individual offer, we need the information how many users, posts and
attachments (total memory) need to be converted.

If you need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours sincerely,

Andrea Berg

I have made also an enquiry to IP.Board - to find out whether an import/conversion could be easier with their board solution.
But it is more expensive and the board is somehow oversized for our "little community".
http://www.poultrychat.com/
is IP.Board based

What do You think about this design?
http://www.urban-chickens.com/
I love the reading chicken Icon. cool
That makes this board much more "lovely".
Something similiar would be perfect.
For example we could show a monthly/yearly donation goal to finance the forum.

This guy recomand to change to Invision Power Board.
I've forwarded these results to Loren.
Hopefully we can realize a board change soon!

No reaction by Loren until today ...
In the meanwhile I found that Simply machine has a Converter, for UBB.threads
http://download.simplemachines.org/?converters;software=ubbthreads
and this Forum software is for free
http://www.forum-software.org/simple-machines-2/review

PS:

Here they provide professional Forum converter service (the price tor both solutions will be the same)
http://gconverters.com/convert-ubb-threads-to-ip-board/
http://gconverters.com/convert-ubb-threads-to-simple-machines-forum/

No matter, which Software we'll take, it could look similarly like this

Best wishes to Loren (yes, I still keep DUTCH). Would be so glad to be in touch!

And let us know if and when we can contribute to any secure changes to the site.

I just want to show the difference between IP.Board and Simple Machines and made therefore some screen casts.
https://www.screenr.com/HkJN
https://www.screenr.com/2kJN
https://www.screenr.com/dkJN
I think, You can easliy see, why www.Poultrychat.com and www.urban-chickens.com use IP.Board.

The graphical surface has a higher quality in IP-Board. In the messenger You can edit messages until the recipient read it.
In Simple Machines the surface (e.g. the smilies) look cheaper (blurred). In the messenger it is not possible to edit the messages at any time!
For me still rules IP.Board ... even if Simple Machines is for free!
