I just want to share my email response to Loren to his Email from April 20.

Dear Loren,

thank You for Your response.
Honestly I am totally focused on IP.Board in the meanwhile.
That's called the most comfortable and highly developed Board Software.
http://www.poultrychat.com/
is IP.Board based

What do You think about this design of another IP.Board based poultry forum?
https://web.archive.org/web/20140322122633/http://www.urban-chickens.com/
Currently, the forum is down, but the reading chicken as icon for the sub forums is great,
That seems to be the original graphic
http://www.influenzaresources.org/index_678.html
Color version in icon size

If someone could modify (add a mortar board on the chickens head ) and resize it, this would be the perfect Logo for the Classroom.
A mortar board like this

A short time I thought about Simply Machines ( a free Board Software), but in the demonstration, it shows massive difference to IP. Board
See in (the Screen Casts) in this Posting
http://www.the-coop.org/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=114210#Post114210
In the early time of this thread I thought about Woltlab Burning Board, but it seems to be more complicated
https://community.woltlab.com/thread/237...604#post1432604

A few days ago I found a company which offer migration services (see forwarded Email).

But I made also enquiries to Woltlab and IP.Board itself regarding the costs for Board migration.
The team of Woltlab Burning Board takes over 1000 $ for the migration service and the IP. Board team migration service "starts at 650$".
I've got no offical quote. For this I have to ask again.
But already Yet it is clear - Either we leave the migration service to gConverter (see forwarded Email),
or if someone ( of the Administration team - maybe Henk? **) of the Forum dare to make the migration, we could save the costs for migration!
The Converter tool from IP.Board is free!
But the converter can only downloaded with a client account
https://www.invisionpower.com/convert
Here is a guide of Invision power for board migrations
https://www.invisionpower.com/support/gu...unity-suite-r37

To make it easier for me, I copy this Email communication into the Coop thread to start with donation acquisition, if it's okay for You!?
I hope we get together enough money to realize the migration.

** Can You imagine, that he would make the migration to IP.Board? The migration to Burning board is much more complicated, why I would think, that gConverter should do this job.
The total costs are:
IP.Board

$ 175 for Board software
plus $ 225 for migration service
Total $ 400 ($ 175 - if Henk or somebody else can make the migration with the free Converter tool)

Woltlab Burning Board

$ 89 for Board software
plus $ 240 for migration service
Total $ 329

But again - even if we have to leave the migration service to gConverter.
IP.Board would be the better choice, as a guy in this Webworker-Forum has pointed out.
http://translate.google.com/translate?hl...F&sandbox=1

Finally an important question for the preservation of the Forum.
Wouldn't it be a good idea to give him the forum and domain rights? Or do You want to keep the domain, site and forum?
To make it easier for me, I copy this Email communication into the Coop thread to start with donation acquisition, if it's okay for You!?
I hope we come to an arrangement which ensure the preservation of the classroom content and we get together enough money to realize the migration.

Regards

Daniel
PS: In the meanwhile I could arrange, that Sigrid van Dort (http://chickencolours.com/) would create such a Professor-Chicken icon graphic for the Classroom,
like they have/had it at urban chicken forum.

RedCap,

My antivirus software blocked the link to urban-chickens forum as it is infected with URL.Mal. Might be best if you remove all urls linked to it?

I find this quite ironic in a thread on security....

I tried it right now ... no warning with GDATA ... and they use two scan engines. But this site was offline already 2015, therefore I added the archive.org Link.

In this Screenshot You can see the icon, I've mentioned at that time.

Redcap, I don't know why anyone on a very tight budget would buy a php forum software package when there are terrific free & open source ones available like phpBB etc (where the community help with ideas, improvements, testing & so on). It's not only the initial purchase price but upgrades to consider.

Eg, I don't see anything wrong with Backyard Poultry forum, built on phpBB:
http://forum.backyardpoultry.com/viewforum.php?f=10
It has a photo gallery (members can upload photos to & link in posts), file attachment function (can attach photos, pdfs etc in posts), calendar, android app function, etc. And it is clean design, and fast.

But I still remember the dramas with the last upgrade here, it wasn't fun losing all the old links, and some members having trouble logging on with old usernames, having to rejoin, change them. It is a risky business.

I like the phpBB based Forums also as User, but I the IP.Board has a very comfortable and intuitive administration.
Furthermore IP.Board offers many Applications/Extensions, which could make this Forum much more comfortable.
I have to browse through the Marketplace to get an overview, what could be useful.
I just want to show You with the following extension, what IP.Board can provide, which I don't expect in free Forum Boards.

This Extension could be an alternative to close the Genetics Subforum for guests. The advantage is, that the viewablity of the first few postings could increase the motivation to register at the Classroom.
https://invisioncommunity.com/files/file...ws#review-10888

I would like to present a collection of other possibly helpful extensions, which could make the Forum more comfortable and attractive**. But I didn't wanted to wait until I am ready with the presentation/overview of possibly useful extensions.

** For example I found in the Aviornis Forum
http://www.aviornis.com.pl/viewforum.php?f=131
the feature "Topic on Hoover", which I considered/valued really useful to get a fast overview (in a busy forum with a plenty of new postings).
Today, this feature doesn't seem to work anymore. The same with the extension for IP.Board.
But the screenshot gives an impression, how it works.
As soon as the cursor "touch" a title/hyperlink You can see the last posting (in Aviornis it was the first posting and the last, as far as I remember) in a pop-up frame.

Until then You can watch through the features, of each different Board software (I selected the four most interesting). Unfortunately the chart isn't uptodate - I assume, that there should be extensions for Related Threads, Detect Duplicate Threads and Spellchecker)
https://www.forum-software.org/forum-com...b-burning-board
In general You can read in different sources the statement, that IP.Board is the most developed Board software e.g. the search machine
