My hen is 4 1/2 months old and has swollen feet and legs that seem to be oozing blood. The bottom of the feet appear to be intact, no brown spots or cuts that I can see.

Her comb is also floppy. None of the other chickens in the flock have this.

She is still walking around, eating, and drinking normally as far as I can tell. The only recent change is I changed their bedding from wood shavings to straw. We live in a dry, warm area so the straw and coop are not moist. I clean it weekly and change the bedding. We haven't had any nights below 37 degrees.

Any ideas about what is? and what can I do?

Do I need to separate her from the other chickens?

Thanks!

Doesn't appear to be Scaly leg mites. Looks like severe inflamation, If the bird were mine, I would soak legs and feet in warm Epson Salts solution. For scaly leg infection, quickest treatment is to drip, from an eyedropper, with legs and feet held UP, Campho-phenique (from the Drug store) under the scales from toe to hock. It smells clean, gets all the way under the scales to snuff the mites. The greasy stuff usually used, can trap air under the scales and the mites are safe--and collects dirt, messy to appy, and may or may not finish the infection! Campho-phenique will do the job in one treatment for a light infection, 2 or 3, about a week apart will do it otherwise. It also will polish legs before SHOWING and protect your bird from infection from show cages.
Purely guess, even from your good pictures. Chicken Health Handbook gives no clues.....Good luck.

The scaly notes seems much more... Scaly than hers, haha. We ended up soaking in Epsom salt baths, cleaning with chlorhexadine, and putting her on oral antibiotics. She is definitely improving! I have no idea what it is but at least it's getting better. Thanks for the ideas!
