I'm posting this thread in this forum since it seems to be the one that has the most photos posted to it.

When you post photos in your messages, please make sure they are no larger than the width of the thread. If you have to use the slider bar at the bottom of the screen in order to read the entire message, then your photos are too large and will be changed to links. For those of you who use PhotoBucket, you can choose the size of your photos before you upload them from your computer. I recommend "medium," but definitely don't make them any larger than "large."

Also, please keep in mind that some of our members have dial-up Internet connections, so keep the number of photos to a minimum.

The new edition of Photobucket will send pictures to Facebook, etc., but I can find no place to copy and paste as we used to in order to post on The Coop. Any help in decifering the new format of Photobucket? CJR

Henk69: This won't work because it uses a php file instead of a true imagefile with a known extension:
Code:

[img]http://gallery.backyardpoultry.com/watermark.php?file=43408[/img]

This way you can show a thumbnail and link to a bigger picture:
Code:

[url=http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e330/Henk69/platinum/DSC_1348.jpg][IMG]http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e330/Henk69/platinum/th_DSC_1348.jpg[/IMG][/url]

You can upload your pictures to your website or a website like photobucket. Then you have to figure out what the webaddress (url) of your picture is. Photobucket provides a url already framed by img-tags (see posts above) which you can paste into your post. From a regular website you can find the properties of a picture by right-mouseclick. Copy the entire path of your picture and paste into your post. Add img-tags around it.

Code:

Even better explained:

The photobucket link works good wink

To show the photo here at the Coop, you hover the cursor over the image at Photobucket, & up pops the [img] tag URL (& others) for you. Eg:

All you have to do then is to (left) click in the text box next the URL / link that you want (ie IMG code text box), and this automatically saves in memory the IMG tag url / link for you (you will see "Copied" shown in the text box, indicating successful copying of code).

Then it is just a matter of pasting the code back here at The Coop, in the reply window, eg the following code:
Code:
[IMG]http://i1139.photobucket.com/albums/n543/KarenMarans/GSM%20Mystery%20chick%202011/House200221.jpg[/IMG]

Here is the code directly pasted into The Coop Reply Window:

And here is the result: the chick in question smile

For those wanting to see or edit links to old Photobucket images (with broken links due to Photobucket now charging for forum use):

It is currently possible to use Photobucket thumbnail size images (the only size available to link to forums for free). To change image size to thumbnail put th_ (th with an underscore) in front of the image file name.

For example, change the original filename barredboy8.jpg to th_barredboy8.jpg.

The original image code:

Code:
[img]http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh56/kaalnek2/barredboy8.jpg[/img]

The thumbnail image code:

Code:
[img]http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh56/kaalnek2/th_barredboy8.jpg[/img]

Hopefully others will also post image webhosting websites that they like. The following 'imgur" is the one I'm using...

Imgur image web hosting site (https://imgur.com/) is free.
You can upload as many images as you want (unlimited) except only allowed to upload 50 images per hour.

- FAQ - how to upload images
- FAQ -how to share images for Forums
* What you need is the BBCode for forums

For example, once images have been uploaded to imgur, how to get the BBCode link for posting in forums.

Step 1: hover cursor over image:

This brings up a down arrow:

Step 2: hover cursor over down arrow:

This brings up a dropdown box

Step 3: Click on the "Get share links".

This brings up a window with Share links:

Step 4: Click on the BBCode (Forums) "Copy" button:

* then paste the code into a forum post.
