I have a week and half old chick that is constipated. No pasty butt. Vent area is bulging out when she tries to poop. This started yesterday and thought she was better to find out this morning she's still constipated. I have tried to "assist" her with pooping by soaking in warm water, gently massaging area, tried to gently pull out some of the poop, put a little bag balm in vent area to try to lubricate...nothing is working. I just tried a little molasses in water to see if that would help. Any suggestions? I feel awful for her. No avian vets in our area.

Sorry i didn't see this sooner. I hope by now it has resolved itself. For future reference, the ointment you use for piles can help reduce tissue mass, and also useful for reducing prolapse in older hens.
It may be a form of prolapse that she has.
