Hello all,

I've noticed a particular chevron feather pattern in a Aseel x Sumatra rooster I had (E/e+), and in his son (E/?). It was not present in the Aseel (grand)parent.

It looks like a black "V" or inverted teardrop on the shoulders, with the point of the teardrop at the distal end of the feather, with a white (or red) spangle on either side of the point of the teardrop.

Does anyone know the inheritance of this pattern? I haven't seen it in any of my other roosters, and I find it very appealing.

in my opinion it's a typical pattern of wing coverts of birchen roosters

a gold birchen example, rooster feathers to the left, fourth picture: http://www.kippenencyclopedie.nl/php/index.php?title=Goudberken
