My favorite hen has a prolapsed vent. It was awful to see. I cleaned her up, separated her in a dark area so she won't lay eggs. I tried to push the flesh back inside - even tried Prep. H -to no avail. Days later, our vet pushed it all back in & stitched her up with a loose stitch. She can poop through the stitches that will be removed in 4 to 5 days. The reason I am writing this is to THANK THIS FORUM. Because I was able to read similar situations that many of you have had with your hens, I knew exactly what was wrong with her and did not panic and destroy her! I am very optimistic that she will recover. Thank you all!
