Last night I noticed that one of my hens had a bloated abdomen, kind of like broilers develop. So I punctured it and allowed a clear liquid to come out. The bird did not seem to be getting much better, so I butchered her. Upon examination I found that all around her guts there were very lumpy hard and round deposits of fat. They looked like little balls about 1/8 inch in diamter. That was very bisarre. I looked at her undeveloped yolks and they looked like they've been rooting having black bloody spots all over.

I've butchered laying hens before and I've seen fat hens with undeveloped yolks. It looked nothing like it. Even the guts themselves were unusually inflexible.

What could she have had? Could it be cancer or something like that?
