Hello, I am new here and have a question. I have started breeding silver laced Wyandottes, and my breeder hens have yellow legs. I incubated their eggs this spring and have quite a few now, but the new pullets I hatched have grey legs! Why is this and which is the correct color? My original hens are laced well, but some of these new pullets are not. Will they lace more as they mature?

The correct colour is clear yellow. Grey legs, i.e., dusky white, is not what is wanted. What was the male you used in the breeding pen with them? Do you have any pictures, especially of him?

Hello,

maybe this helps?: http://home.ezweb.com.au/~kazballea/genetics/mutations2.html#gen_mut_leg

I would guess your Sire was ID/id+, but Im no expert, just a thought! Also, the grey legs should ALL be pullets if I did get this right.

Best greetings,

Joachim

What is the proportion of well-laced vs. not well-laced pullets?
