Just for fun, before I set up pure breeding pens, I set 3 eggs from a light blue laced red hen (looks like white laced red), who was with a silver laced cock (both Wyandottes). The 2 chicks out so far (the 3rd is pipped) look like silver laced chicks, but a paler grey. I remember someone somewhere mentioning the idea of blue laced silvers? Is this likely/possible?

Yes, you should get some blue laced silver birds, but they will be yellowish or sort of peachy instead of a clean silver. All progeny will inherit one copy of dominant silver because you used a silver male on a gold female. Males will be Ss and females will be SW.
