Hi one of my buff hens hatched eggs and had the chicks for a month and I took her away friday night and today sunday she layed a egg I thought they would take a two month break.

It sounds like the hen was just about to give the babies the boot anyhow. It takes a few weeks to get the ovaries going producing yolks. A broody will usually chase off the babies at around 6 weeks of age. Some take quite a break from laying before they start again and some start right away. Some will even be broody again in a couple of weeks after getting rid of the brood.

HI what about a standard hen she was broody for a week and then I broke her up when mite she start laying. thanks for your reply
