Came across this page that has a little article that may be of interest to pheasant breeders. Ruth Renner writes a journal about her Aberdeen Angus Stud, and she has come across a nest of pheasant eggs with a pleasing result. Rearing in the wild will result in high mortality as there are plenty of wild cats and stoats etc to prey on them. Scroll down through the page to read about her new babies. Pheasants Pheasantams are her name for pheasant bantam hybrids which feature in another page on her site. Pheasantams

That is a flip flop "sandal" the turkey is holding in its mouth...thus a typo. Not jandal.

The bird is carrying a sandal in its mouth. So a joke.

R Rasberry is right about the object in the turkey's beak, but in NZ we do call them jandels. It's a generic name for a thong type of sandal.

For those who are interested in wild pheasants, here is an update on the chicks Ruth Renner has raised after coming across them in a nest. She has just released them back into the wild. Digger\'s Valley
And a further update on one of the wild pheasants. Wild pheasant
Anyone interested in getting Ruth's web page on a regular basis can use this link to find the home page and details are there. She writes an interesting diary full of neat photos about the happenings on this small working stud farm in NZ. I know she has a number of overseas subscribers.

Foehn--

thanks for bringing me back to that Blog.

Always fun to learn about other farmer's experiences as they relate to fowl especially.

Especially in New Zealand!

Interesting pheasant story. I wonder if that pheasant will ever survive the cat?
