I have, for the first time, "dressed" a chicken. Undress seems like a better term. One of my hens was RIP on her back this morning. I wanted to find out why she died, the dog was under suspicion. The feathers zipped off, but tore the skin in a few places. No bruises or wounds were found, thus Rover got out of the doghouse. Curiosity led me to continue. She had more fat than any store bought chicken I have seen. I must be feeding them too much. The abdomenal cavity revealed many yolks in various sizes. I am supposing she was the old hen that had been laying shell-less egss lately. That was the probable cause of death. She was boiled for Rover.
My question: Is there a site that shows what the internal organs are? I didn't recognize some.
Also, next time I would like to save the pelt for the feather lei makers. Probably like fly tying. Has anyone done this?

Try this site. It has a good coloured diagram of a chicken's anatomy and good advice on what to look for in your necropsy procedure.
