I have a brown leghron cockerel that is about 7 months old now. He is probably the friendliest chicken i have ever had. All of the sudden he starts eating all the time. I feed them twice a day. When i let them go free range he just sits there for about an extra hour pecking at the ground getting whatever is left. He starts pecking on the hens if they get close and he has never done this till now. What is the problem.

Perhaps he's still hungry. I keep feed always available. Maybe it'll work for you, too.

He's probably starting to experience hormonal changes and growth spurts associated with getting closer to Spring. Just like a teenage boy. LOL. Have you seen what they can put away in food! I'd make sure he has food available all the time as Rogo suggests, a good balance of protein and calcium too, to promote healthy development, and I'm sure he will settle as his system copes with these changes.
