Since it looks like I may need to find another hatchery I was wondering what is required to cross the border for pickup?

P.S. If anyone has a hatchery they would like to recommend I would really like the hear about it.

I just e-mailed Sand Hill Perservation, according to their website the necessary paperwork comes with the chicks when you go to pick them up States side.
I'd like to hear from anyone who's done this too...I don't like surprises eek

This is the reply I got from Sand Hill,

Please be aware that we do not ship the chicks into Canada. You must pick them up at a U.S. border town Post Office (of your choice) and carry them across the border yourself. We do provide the papers you need to take them to Canada (the fee for this is $70.00). Also, we require that all chick shipments destined for Canada be sent by Express Mail to the U.S. border town. This usually means that they will arrive on time and their arrival is a bit more predictable.

We have a 72 page free catalog featuring 200+ breeds of poultry (chickens,
ducks, geese, guineas and turkeys) and 1000+ varieties of heirloom and
open-pollinated garden seeds. We will be happy to add your name and address
to our 2008 mailing list. Your catalog will be mailed out in the next week or so.

Our 2007 catalog is still online at
It contains our complete catalog (including prices and order forms that may
be printed out and sent in by mail). I am in the process of making the 2008
updates to the online catalog. They should be finished within the next week
or two.
