I checked, and I think what I use for calcium is actual limestone. I mix it in with my granite grit, Overkill. I also take their eggshells, crush them up good, and toss them in the pen with the kitchen scraps. PLUS, what's in the layer, I have no problem with soft shells. They also get at least 2 hours a day of ranging.

Nolte, where do you get your layer? There has been discussions about layer, so I was reading mine. I get it from Fleet Farm, it seems to have what they need.

I will probably get it at Fleet Farm. They are just 13 weeks now, so still on starter/grower, so haven't looked at the bag for layer yet. My elevator sells chicken feed that they grind, but it's a "one type for everyone" kind of thing, so I've been sticking with Fleet Farm. The best prices around!
