The current flock of hens I have laid the first egg at 16 weeks old to the day. I think they were all laying by 20 weeks of age. They were chicks that I hatched the first week of April and the first egg was the last week of July. This is the earliest group to start laying that I have ever had.

I got some production leghorns this year and they started laying at 18 weeks. Pretty little white eggs.. they are 23 weeks now and the eggs are slowly getting bigger. I also have a bantam Cornish hen as well that started laying at abt 20 weeks. She gives me the nicest little (really tiny) cream colored egg abt every 3 days. She is a little peach of a hen!! She is so ugly she's cute!!
