I bought a one year old peacock this week. He has a very long upper bill that overlaps the lower bill by quite a lot. I dont see where it is bothers him eating, but thought I'd ask advice anyway.

I use Resco Dog nail nippers to trip the overgrown upper bills on my chickens. Some birds just have that growth habit and they must be trimmmed every 4-6 months. It is like fingernails, doesn't hurt. To be sure it doesn't bleed, either you can see the right place to make it even with the lower bill, or just take a little at a time. You can shape it, if necessary, so their are no sharp edges. If your bird is easy to handle you can do it yourself, or ask for help if the bird is too large to hold both the bird and the head (gently) at the same time. Good luck, CJR
