I have a newborn chick that had his egg sac pecked off by the other chicks. He has bleed quite a bit but it did clot and now it is crusty and swollen around the body. I moistened it but don't know what else I can do. The chick is rather listless but not totally gone yet. He hatched around noon today.

I know this is a little late, sorry. If the chick is still alive, keep the area clean and apply Neosporin or generic triple antibiotic ointment. Good luck!

Bill,

Thanks for the post... I was feeling a little left out. smile I put peorixide on it and kept him to himself for about 24 hours. He had pasty butt for awhile but seems to be doing great now. He is back with the others and seems to be happy as can be. Kind of a little stinker actually.

Thanks again,

DAVe

Glad to hear the little guy is well! Do be careful with peroxide though, it can damage tender tissue.
