Thanks Henk. Her father must have been ER/eWh (eWh from buff with buff underfluff). So she may actually be pure birchen.

This is an update on the chick from my posting July 8.

His breast was originally white as on normal e+e+momo

WHAT IS ALL THIS ORANGE??!

His halfsister has two spots of the same colour breaking through the black on her neck

Her mother was just a plain black mottled

Update on some birds:
Some of my mottleds have gone totally crazy this year. Look what happened with the hen from the last picture from my posting on June 26. It is her first adult molting:

Here is the blue exchequer pullet from the same posting. She looks like a splash or something, there is nothing attractive in that colour.

Update on the pullet from June 20, page 5. Note the tail!

I would like to hear suggestions for explanation(no matter how wild they might be), why the shade of gold on the hackles is so much darker than on e+ birds?

It will not look like that for very long. By the time of second adult molt the mottles will devour the gold completely in most cases, making them look like a bald eagle on their heads. I will try to post a picture tomorrow.

Here is one on e+/e+. She is in her second adult molting. The gold on the hackle and the head is devoured nearly completely by motling(3 or 4 feathers left)

Look how modest she was to start with(on the right):

I've run out of time, but while I have the link handy (shamelessly bookmarking for future post reference):
The Coop - Ermine

Wieslaw, note the post on Erminette & "spottie" Australian Pit Games, eg:

Ginger Spotted Australian Pit Game

close up

The above isn't mo - mottled, & is different to het. Dominant White (I/i+) in that both phaeomelanin & eumelanin is affected by the "spotted" mutation(s) (whatever that may be?). I.e., the above base genotype is Ginger-Red, & if I -Dominant white, it would be predominantly ginger with some white in tail, etc.

There might be some of these pit game genetics in the game birds Ruff posted (eg, both mottled & spotted in the same bird, etc)?

I'll try to find some more photos of these games - interesting variations.
