Oddly enough, these roosters are almost exactly the color of my
RIRXBlack Australorp rooster. I was told by the genetics people that in
my case the black comes from the Australorp and the cream hackle and
saddle feathers come from the RIR. My rooster's tail feathers have a
slightly different shape, with more of the soft and silky sickles, but
other than that, they could be out of the same hatch. Beautiful!

I don't think the colours match reality for a 100% in the pictures. As far as I remember Hackle and sadlde feathers are clean silver, no cream.
I gave the link to this board to Jef, who is in charge of plantations and live stock at the open-air museum, he registered and maybe he will come in and give us some comment on the backgrounds of the breed. Anny

There were some recent requests for sources of the breed on another board, all from Holland, where they are available. Interesting that it should all come up the same week! They are a "regional" breed, and I look forward to hearing about them. JR

I sent a mail to Jef to urge him to give some more information about the breed. I proposed to him to start a business, 50/50, to sell some of those birds to Americans. Americans are always ready to pay good money for something new! LOL!
