Hi

I found your site whilst searching through Google for help and advice.

We have 3 white campbell chicks in our incubator that are due from now on to hatch (28 days).
Chick 1 pipped its shell just over 24 hours ago but is making very slow progress to get out. The egg shell looks to be too tough for it so I am wondering if I should help it or leave it in there longer to get out itself??

How long should I leave it for before I do anything?
Chicks 2 and 3 have no movement-but they were only due today.

Many thanks

I presume you mean ducklings. I don't know too much about hatching ducklings(never done it), so I hope you have control over such things as humidity/temperature for hatching ducklings? Do you have something to candle the eggs with?

Can you see the heads or the beaks in the air chamber? Are they moving?

Have you taken it out of the egg? Is it totally developed? What was the problem?

The duckling was stuck inside the shell so I sprayed him with warm water and helped to break the shell in very gently.

I then left him amd after about 4 hours he was able to escape by himself.
