In North America during the 1800's and first half of the 1900's, poultry exhibitions were a very common and widespread activity, due to the prevalence of poultry in the largely agrarian landscape. As times progress and the family farms has give way to agribusiness, the shows have dwindled some. Despite this, there are still hundreds of fairs and shows around North America, and a growing number of exhibitors who are rediscovering the joys of raising poultry on a modest scale. The "Shows" section of the site is focused on helping you understand how and why people show poultry, and to assist you in finding poultry shows in your area.
Many of the fairs and shows occur at the same location and roughly the same date each year. This listing is an attempt to catalog these regular shows with enough info that you can reach a contact person with the club that produces the show for current information. If you have information on a show, you may submit it to the site. We will periodically take these submissions and add them to the catalog. Note: Dates given are for the show in 1998 or 1999. The assumption is that the show will be near that date in future years. Contact the club or contact person for current details and remember that you should probably request exhibitor information at least six weeks before the date of the show.
If you need to contact us to change information, or report a dead link or e-mail, we are at shows@the-coop.org.
