I posted this in the waterfowl board about a week ago and have had no luck with a reply, so maybe someone that frequents this board can help me.

I am wanting some African geese. I have found African goslings for 4.00 a piece with a minimum of 8, and have seen them as high as 20.00 a piece. So, are african geese a nice goose to have around? I like the way that they look. Are they proned to being mean and pinching people? Any information about African geese would be appreciated.

they are pretty noisy. They are pretty and some are nice but the ones I've been around weren't the friendliest. I think they would be neat to have though. Don't see any problem with it. Have fun.

Comrad, I had a large flock of mixed geese. Two Africans, 4 Toulouse, 6 white, as well as white Pekin and Buff Ducks. Even though the Africans were smaller than the toulouse, THEY ruled the flock!! They can be a little louder than the rest, but geese usually only honk when alarmed. As far as trying to bite and hissing, they all do that. Because of the size of my flock, and the fact that they were free range (allowed to roam at will) they really didn't like to get handled much. I agree with you about their look. They are very handsome. If you want geese this is a fine one to have. Be aware that geese make VERY heavy droppings though. You will always know where they have been. Mine favored my walkways above all. Much the same as the black birds being able to target any vechile parked in the drive!!
