I have 14 chicks that are now 4 days old. One of the 14 took a long time to hatch, but finally did, and he seemed to be a little deformed. His navel was a little bloody and his rear seemed very swollen. Once in the brooder we couldn't even tell which one was him so we figured he was okay. Today I found him with blood coming from the navel again and dirt all over his rear. What should I do with him? Will he make the others sick? Help!
Most likely he will not make anyone of your other chicks sick. Get some room temperature water and clean off the navel part then simply add some neosporin to the site. Neosporin does not stick to bloody spots easily, so put it in the nearest dry spot and them massage it towards the bloody openning.
Anonymous, Your problem may now be that the other chicks will pick at the healing spot. Be sure this does not happen, and he will likely heal quickly. You may have to put the chick separately in a box under a light (95f temp) with food and water for a few days. CJR

Next time you get "unhealed babies" add neosporin right away as you take them out of the incubator. Just a nice precausion to do and it costs almost nothing.
