One chick is 5 weeks old. one is 4 weeks old and four of them are 2 weeks old. two blackhawk i believe and two are red robin i cant quite remember. but i could easily find out i bought them from a breeder. Last time i buy chicks that are not pullets. learning the hard way. One is red but dont know breed the 5 week old . and the 4 week old is yellow. dont know breed. help. the bigger one i think is female the 4 week old is i think male. straight neck hair on the yellow one. crooked on the one i think is female.
Contact the breeder that you got them from. He/she can give you better advice since they are the ones that have seen them. :)
Isnt there any way to tell before i go driving 4 hours away to see her. busy woman she is. is there anyway to attach photo of them. i got a digital camera and i can take pictures of them.
Zoomzoom, By 6 weeks, the cockerels (males) should have a more prominant comb and wattles, longer legs and maybe starting to push the pullets around. By 8 weeks, there should be no question, the cockerels will likely be larger--and again, that comb will be larger. After that, one day the boys will make a squeaky crow! That is the final revelation! thank you
Where is the comb? and the wattles. new to this all. They are Rhode Island Reds three of them. I called the breeder. Found her phone number. saved trip thank goodness. Is a rhode island red a nice being good breed of a chicken?
The comb is that red thingy at the top of the head and the wattles are the two little deelies under the "chin". RIReds are a good breed of chickens! Hope you enjoy them. CJR
