I recently hatched a clutch of chicks from a frizzle hen, and a smooth White Leghorn Bantam Rooster. He came from a long line of show birds. I got a Silkie.... Without a doubt. No blue skin.... but still yet a silkie. How is this possible???? I am truly puzzled. How can this be?
Hello!
A frizzle has a dominant gene and as it is 1/2 frizzle breeding it will throw frizzle chicks Your frizzle hen has the silkie genes as with frizzle genes

Several breeds carry a recessive gene for "silky" feathers besides the Silkie breed. I have read about silky feathering cropping up in Japanese Bantams, Cochins, Rhode Island Reds, Turkens, Spanish and Sumatras. What does your accidental silky frizzle X leghorn cross look like? Color, etc.?
