Help!
I want to get 1 or 2 pet bantams for my daughter. We live in So. California and it can get very hot here. We would like something pretty as well as friendly. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Howdy--Of course, I think the Dutch Bantam, so small and beautiful, tame and gentle as a rule, is a perfect breed for children. CJR

I like the black cochins and they make a good 4H project pet.

I have Japanese. They have beautiful long tails and a darling face. They have large combs, so the heat is disipated well so they keep cooler. I live in the California Valley (Woodland) and my birds do great. They are SO SWEET. Even the birds that I buy who are not hand raised sit on my shoulder like a parrot! They also allow themselves to be turned upsidown un their backs and they will stay like that! My homeraised birds are even sweeter (doen't seem possible, does it) When I go to feed my chick, I have to keep them from jumping onto my arm to be pet/held! My fav Jap hen is my showmanship bird. She just sits there on the table. I have won most of my showmanship clases with her (including 1st Senior Showmanship at CA State Fair!) She has also done VERY well in shows (Reserve Single Clean Leg).
