I posted a request in the classified section for unusual colors, particularly silver-laced, if such exists. Also, would like to find a DEEP red like a Rhode Island. Any others would be interesting too... like Frizzles in colors other than the standard menu.
We're not sure from Jespersen's message whether the 'DEEP' red wanted is in Frizzle cochins, but we have a flock of Frizzles in that colour. 2 hens are brooding clutches of 15 or so each, so should have some chicks by mid-March. Also have fertile eggs for incubating. Lower Mainland of Southern B.C.
Bantam cochins come in a wide variety of colors: red, buff, partridge, white, black, blue, birchen, splashes, mottled, golden laced, and silver laced (and probably others, too). Red is the most common color of the frizzles and they are usually a deeper red than the regular reds. Breeders now have developed frizzles in other colors, as well. Once you get started, you might even develop a color/type of your own. Good luck.
we breed the very unusual (in cochins anyway) color pattern called brown red. At the Columbus show we were the only ones there. I know of only one other reputable breeder working with this color pattern.
I dont have an unusual cochin, but i do need help finding information on barred bantam cochins. please help, I've looked everywhere!!
Thank You, S. Jespersen
