Wev'e been thinking about buying a trio of red jungle fowl, but know noting about this breed.
POPS:
Dear, pops
Hello pops.
Can some one tell me about them, we would like to let them free range if possable.
A freind tells us that if we don't keep the males seperate, that they will kill each other, is this true?

Red jungle fowl are the original breed of wild chicken, kinda the same way a wolf is the original wild dog. They are very beautiful, with a golden neck, a red back, a black stomach, green wing stripes, and a mettallic green tail. I don't know what the hens look like. I have never raised them, so don't be mad if I'm wrong. But don't let them free range, because you'll never get them back in the coop, they are pretty wild.

I have been rasing gungle fowl for years so I,ll give you a few tips. First yes cocks will deffinetly fight. normaly to the death. Most of the time you can let them free range until they reach six months old. However cocks are rarely agrisive to humans. second Inbreeding in this fowl for many generations is not good for this fowl. This can cause side efects like becoming smaller each generation, and some have even been none to become crazy. Making them agresive towards humans. third both jungle fowl eggs and jungle fowl are safe to eat. fourth jungle fowl are really resistaint to disease. However they are sometimes hard to breed, because hens will sometimes eat thier own eggs/chicks.
good luck
