setting hens

What are the best setting hens? We have Rhode Island Reds that lay year around but they will not set.

Get yourself a nice Banty hen and let her set for them. We hatched our first eggs out here with a Buff Brahma banty hen,excellent mother!!

We've had success with these girls as broody hens....
RIR x Light sussex hen,
Speckled Sussex hen,
Silver grey dorking hen and last but not least
A silkie x ? bantam
all were really good and the Dorking especially easy to handle

I like the banties for setting hens,,, but nothing will out set a cochin hen,,, they can cover more eggs than the banties, and they are as good a mother hen as any bantie i have ever had, and i have had lots of them
