I need help in locating a source of Indian Runner ducks somewhere near Calgary, Alberta.

We finally have our country place and I am looking to fulfill a promise to my son that he can raise ducks.

I would also appreciate any advice regarding how many we should purchase as our initial hobby flock, feeding and accomodation requirements.

I started with eight indian runners. I was lucky enough to find them at my local agway (grain store) But I have checked around on the internet & I know that you can mail order them. I kept them in my office for 8 weeks. Handled them alot. I wanted them to be tame as they are noted not to be. It is said that they are not to be in water until their feathers come in because the chick down does not have the necessary oil on them. But I had to keep them clean. Every couple of days I put them in my bathtub for a swim. What fun, they loved it they dive under the water, what a laugh. Possibly it worked because they were in the house out of the elements.Grain stores sell Duck grower. I also found they love as a treat earth worms, or crushed clams. My babys are old now. They are free ranged on a river & do very well for themselves. They all know their names & come when called. You can never go up to them as they will scanter away, but they love to come to you.
