If anyone out there has experience with White Leghorn roosters, I would appreciate any advice you could offer. I am about to renew my laying flock and I would like to go to a White Leghorn for the rooster. I traditionally keep Black Australorps (and BA rooster) and Highland 55 White Leghorn hens. Since the Leghorn hens are more aggressive than the Australorp hens, I want to try to be sure not to raise a Leghorn rooster who is overly endowed with aggression toward people. If you have had good experiences or bad, I would appreciate knowing the strain you had and your source.
I want a rooster that will throw a good cross for laying should I need to produce my own replacements. My other layers will likely be Black Australorps or a sex-link layer. Thanks.

I had some white leghorn cockerals purchased 3/99 from McMurray's( 8 appeared in my rainbow layer assortment) ther is a possibility they may have been Highland 55's., but really looked like perfect leghorns. Beautiful birds but real aggressive...I got rid of them all, I spend alot of time with my chickens...everyone else is sweet, especially the americanas... rooster, too. But those white leghorns had to go. Good Luck..

Thank you very much! We decided to go with Rhode Island Reds this time. Thanks for sharing your experience.
