My daughter has a trio of black old dutch. This morning one of the hens is gone. Also we have a litter of 6 puppies and 2 of them are gone. Three days before this every one of the chicks disappeared. We haven't even found a feather, so we don't even know if something got her. Does anyone have any idea what is going on? My neighbor has about 30 mutt chickens and none of his had disappeared. This only leaves us with the pair for her to show for 4H. We appreciate any advice. Thanks
Trrb2, Can't say whether it is 4 legged, 2 legged or ? that is stealing your little ones. But if you will save the rest, you MUST keep them confined safely--in your house, if necessary. You might sift a little flour tonight, around the places where your pets disappeared. You may then see tracks of the culprit in the morning, as when a source of food or ? is found, the predator will be back! Do you have foxes? They carry things off to their dens, if they have pups, with no trace, except their footprints! Very sorry for your losses, and hope you find the culprit ASAP, CJR
Trrb2, Where do you live?--I can give you a couple of sources of Black Dutch Bantams. CJR
I live in Olkahoma, about 30 minutes from Tulsa.
Trrb2, I know of nice Black Dutch Bantams at Plevna, KS and also Bois D'Arc, MO. Also other varietes, at Catoosa, OK.--that is close! He knows the chap at Plevna. Go my website at: www.dutchbantams.com and write to me directly and I can put you in touch with any or all. CJR
Jean There are some black dutch in Catoosa too. I let him have some of my best ones last fall. Rog
Thanks, Rog, I gave her JA's address, as well as yours and MBowens. CJR

Thank you CJR. I really think it might be 2 legged. The puppies are under my front steps and 10 feet away is my german shepherd. I just can't imagine another animal coming up to get 2 puppies. Why it had to be my daughters chicken and not my neighbors. It is just upsetting since dutch bantams are so hard to find and I can't even relpace them.
