We have Cornish Game Hens crossed with Plymouth Rocks.
These are broilers raised for show. We have had problems with a couple of the chickens feathers appearing to be "shaved," or "clipped." The area is up to 4 inches wide and looks like a stripe that runs down the back. What's left looks almost like bristles about 2 inches long. Feathering on the rest of the body looks alright. I thought about some type of parasite and had a vet look at them. He said he'd never seen anything like it but didn't think it was a parasite. Does anyone have any suggestions? The chickens appear to be healthy and appetites are good. They are on a complete show ration feed and have had plenty of vitamins and electrolytes. Overcrowding is not a problem and they are not being pecked by others.
After about a week the feathers begin to grow back regularly but sometimes that is after the show and these birds cannot be used at the show.I would appreciate any insight or suggestions. Please email me at: a0008313@airmail.net Thanks.
