Hi,
Sue, If it is just "sprained" or bruised, he will heal just fine without medication. Keeping him in a smaller cage for a rest, should do the job! But I don't know about the ladies?? He might be better off for a couple of days by himself. Chickens are not people, and medications are not often exchangeable. (Just consider size and weight??.) My dog/cat Vet, will not prescribe for my chickens. So take care--CJR
thank you CJ ...
I have a rooster that is about 7 months old... He fell off the roost in our coup and sprained his upper thigh. It is not broken . I have him in a cage with his 3 ladies... I want to put him on a anti inflamatory(sp) I have Predisone at home.. I also work for a Vet and she said she did not see where it would hurt him.. She is a VERY good vet but does not know or treat chickens... He is one of our favorite roosters... I am open to any suggestions... Also what is a good injectable anti. to have on hand.. I did have tylon50 but you cant get that now... Thank you for any help.
Susan

He is in a nice pen and his ladies are doing fine by him... they are grooming him... today he stood on both legs for the first time in 3 day... I do believe that rest is his best friend..
That is why I asked here about the meds... My boss is Great but she knows nothing of chickens... I think by 2 weeks he should be better...
Thank you so much for you help
Susan
