I am new to keeping backyard chickens but so far so good except for one thing. I have a silky (I think) and she laid an egg the other day that was thrown or dropped out of the coop and today she laid an egg that was cracked at the top. I am worried that she is not getting enough calcium and also wondering if I need to worm. All in all, I have 2 roosters and 4 hens and generally get around 2 to 3 eggs a day.
Worming wouldn't be a bad idea.

But the shell problem is due, most likely, to a calcium deficiency.
Give them a supplement of crushed oyster shells and bonemeal.
