I need help, one of my chicken has a problem with her legs, she is 6 months old, and she got something with her legs, it is like walking in tippy toes, just when i tried to grabe her, if not she stays laying down. Other thing, some of my chicken has diarrhea. Anybody out there have an idea about this.
Not much to go on. Can you find any sores on her feet or legs? Any swelling or signs of anything different? Seams almost everything can cause diarrhea. Can you tell if it is bloody or an odd color? Sorry I'm not much help. But maby with a little more info somebody will have an idea. Good luck!!!
Sergio, With problems limping or walking, I am paranoid about Marek's Disease, which is a gradual paralysis and is usually fatal, no treatment.
I also have a "tippy toed" chick, just 5 days old.
A follow up, if anyone is interested in my tippy toed chick.
Always interested in a follow up. Thanks for posting it. I always wounder if something worked or not. It helps all of us to know.
Thank you
Sergio

Go to the Keyword Search on the left of this message. Click on search and fill in" Marek's Disease"--LOTS of information can be located.
I do not worry about what seems like diarrhea unless it should be very watery and cause bare inflamed vent area. CJR

I was looking for some advice on what you, Sergio just described, but my 4 chicks do not have dirrahea, so far. My chick has what appears to be a week left leg, she walks on both feet kind of on her tippy toes, then sits down after a short walk.
She is smaller than the others, but is eating starter crumble and drinking.I have given her sugar water in her water bowl, and I have given her a drop of codliver oil once a day for the past couple of days, but am under the impression that the oil should not be given more than 3 days at most.
I also tried giving a very tiny piece of beef liver as was suggested in an earlier conversation , but she did not want it.
What about giving some organic egg yolk? Would this be a bad idea?
Does ANYONE have experience with this "tippy toed" symptom?
Thanks for all your help!!

The cod liver oil and bit of beef liver must have helped, as she started walking normally very soon after that. It must have been a vitamin deficiency.
She is 5 weeks at this writting and doing very well.
