Some of my chickens are having black diarrhea.
Can anyone tell me what could be the cause and what I can do to correct it?

Thanks, Eerin Meskanick

Is it every dropping? They have a normal dropping and then what I think is called their cecal dropping that comes from a different part of the intestines and happens less often and is wetter than the other droppings. Some of mine had a black cecal dropping for awhile. I think it was caused by a change in diet, but I'm not sure. It went away after about a week. Thats my only experience with black droppings. Maybe someone else has more knowlege on this. Hope it turns out well for you.

Well, it's hard to say. Let's start with what type of birds, what you're feeding them, how old they are and go from there. Might be clues hiding in those answers!

My birds exhibit black fecal matter when they eat black or dark colored berries.
