Is it possible for the diseases of wild pheasants to pass to my domestic chickens? If so what are the most common diseases and what are the preentions and cures?
Joanyh, Most wild creatures have some kind of diseases, but I don't know of any that pheasants have. Have had them in my yard and fields for more than 50 years--and even hatched some rescued eggs from the hay fields, and let my Silkie hens raise them and they lived with the chickens until they left on their own. We made no effort to tame or keep them. Sick or injured wildfowl die quickly and/or are culled by predators with maybe a few feathers or bones left, which poses no threat to other wildfowl. But except for rabies in skunks and a few other diseases of wild animals, they are not a threat to our domestic livestock, if they are well kept. Not to worry. CJR
