This afternoon I found a crow with a broken wing and am unable to find anyone to help. I have taped his wings against his body to hold them both in place. Do you have any suggestions? Also, if nothing can be done to mend the wing, is it possible to keep a crow with turkeys, ducks or chickens? I have all three. Thanks!
Check at your local animal shelter and see if they have a referral for a wildlife shelter. There are a few in Ontario where I live. Maybe there will be one in your area! Good luck!
To heal a wing of a bird, you have done just right by taping it in folded position right around his body. It takes about 10 days to heal a wing bone in a songbird, maybe a little longer for a larger bird like the crow. But I would not put him with your other fowl, but keep it in a cage separately. Crows can savage other birds, if in close company. He will eat most anything!, canned dogfood is an easy feed or catfood has higher protien and may build bone faster. Dry food will keep him cleaner, but won't have as much protein. He needs a perch, shavings below to keep him clean, and water available. Shade from sun. Expect when you release the bird, he will fly with a little difficulty, and may want to hang around for the food! But he should be as good as new. They are pretty intelligent birds (I don't want any around!). Good luck CJR
