could you please tell me which is the best month to start breeding wyandotte bantams I live in the north of england, I have got a incubator and a good supply of bantams ready to do there bit.
Carrom, You can only hatch when you have the eggs you want to hatch! I hatch all year (northern U.S.--sometimes temps are -40C!), whenever a hen sets and I have the eggs I want to hatch. I rarely use the incubator, but will if I have quite a few special eggs and no setting hens. Of course, they are hatched indoors and brooded indoors until May/June! Lots of people in England hatch to have birds at least 6-8 months old for Show-times, or for special Shows. (April for the December Shows). But mainly, it is when you have the eggs! Good luck, CJR
thanks for your reply CJR I will start right away, also would you say that 3 weeks is long enough to be sure that the cock Iam useing is the one thats fertilized the eggs as before this period they will have been with other cocks in the free range area.
