My neighbor has asked for my help and so here we go. She has 2 hens abd a week ago some dogs almost killed a rooster on my porch. I was not home but she was and has been nursing this rooster back to health. Well he looks like he's going to make it and we are wondering what to do now. We've decided that since we have no way of knowing where this bird came from we must care for him. The concern is that he will lead her ladies right over the fence if we don't clip his wings. I've got no problems with doing the clipping, but need some guidelines. Please Help
Just clip one wing, first 6 to eight feathers. This should take care of him.
Hi Neighborlady, I would think that if this rooster is being feed and well cared for, and the hens are already there, he'll probably just stay on his own. Let us know how it works out!
