The Classroom @ The Coop: Poultry Management: 4th graders take home babies from class hatching (pic)

A couple of weeks ago my sister posted about the boys hatching eggs in the 4th and 5th grade classes. The 4th grade chicks hatched late. It was a day 24-25 hatch. The latest hatch I have ever seen. The kids turned the eggs themselves, which made them feel that they were more actively participating in the incubation.

All the chicks were 'adopted' by 4th graders. We kept one grey one, but all the others have gone home with kids. The picture below shows some very happy kids with baby chicks born in the 4th grade! The 5th grade chicks hatched today. There are two grey chicks in that batch that we will keep. The 5th grade chicks will live in the 5th grade for a week and be adopted next week.
