Hi
Hi - As long as they are old enough (7 mos. at least) and they have 12-14 hours a day of light, rouens lay pretty regularly in my experience. Not as many eggs as medium or lighter ducks, but plenty. Khaki Campbells are the best layers. Yours will not lay until spring unless you light them. ( Just a thought, are you sure you have females? Young male rouens have female -like plumage until they molt it out). When they do start to lay, collect the eggs every day or the ducks will start to collect them in nests, get broody and set them when they have a clutch. These can be hard to find because they bury them in layers, often in communal nests! Good luck. Rouens are friendly ducks and lots of fun.
Rouens are a meat duck, but they do lay pretty good.Campbells and runners are the ducks bred for eggs. They are not to hard to come by.Just to let you know there are white campbells and Khakis.Runners come in just about any color you can immagian.Whites and Fawn&White runners are the most comman.Hope this helps,Callpen
I got 6 Rouen ducks at an auction because they were
so cheap and I've always wanted to try ducks. I
have been told that Rouens are meat birds not layers
and what I had wanted were duck eggs.
Have I been told the truth?
They are 21 weeks old approx. and no eggs yet and
I was told they won't lay till the spring now. True?
How many eggs do ducks lay in a year and who are the best layers?
