I am a new 4-H project leader for poultry and waterfowl and have no information on showmanship for the kids. Any help would be greatly appreciatd or a contact person for infor would also be helpful. I have contacted our local 4-H office and they cannot help me. Waterfowl is a new project for our kids this year and I would hate to see it fail for lack of proper education materials. Yes, the showmanship manuals are now available! This is now used as the National Standard for poultry showmanship. It is 16 pages long, with info on selecting your bird, training, fitting (includes washing) and a description of the competition. There is also info on how to set up the competition area, a judging sheet, and a list of sample questions. This information is from the University of California Cooperative Extension Avian Science Notes.
