I've posted serveral mesages, no reply Can someone please advise me on the mating of my mandarins????
The first things that come to mind are:
I have some of the prettiest mandarins but they did noe lay last year and it looks like they are not intersested in each other again this year./ My Canadians are 3 years will they lay this year? I have 4 pair and have been waiting patiently I've made them some nesting boxes and put them in a seperate isolated pen so nothing else will bother them. They have 4 big swimming pools that we keep fresh , which they have the biggest time in, looks like some sort of mating display but I'm no sure. Anyone got any Ideas?

#1 Are you sure they are pairs? We've seen several unscrupulous people sell unsuspecting folks birds that were not pairs & even had the nerve to tell them they were "breeders".
#2 Is it possible that they are related? Often siblings/related birds will not pair up. Call it "nature's way of preserving the gene pool".
Can you describe them & the environment that they're in? Any details that you can give will give others better insight to your situation. :-)
Your Canada geese are reaching breeding age. It's possible that they can lay this year. One suggestion is to give them a larger & deeper water source...fertility will be much better & sometimes they seem to be "put off" by not having "just the right" environment. It isn't easy trying to duplicate mother nature. :-)
Hope this helps. If you have further questions feel free to email us.
